Adnan Aamir, the Editor of Balochistan Voices has been elected as the Secretary General of the interim cabinet of the Digital Media Alliance of Pakistan (DigiMAP).
DigiMAP was established by 13 founding members in a gathering of independent online journalism platforms from across Pakistan held in Lahore in November 2020. The charter of DigiMAP among other things aims to support and practice independent online public interest journalism in Pakistan.
Adnan Aamir is a practicing journalist with experience of more than 9 years. He has extensively written about Bakichistan, CPEC, economic development, and conflict among others. A couple of weeks ago, Adnan published his 500th article as a journalist.
Adnan founded Balochistan Voices in February 2016 to highlight the ignored issues of Balochistan.
Furthermore, Adnan has the distinction of being an IVLP Alumnus 2017, Chevening South Asian Journalism fellow 2018, Young Connectors of the Future Fellow 2018, and Reporters Without Borders fellow in 2019.
Presently, the cabinet of DigiMAP is working on formulating the rules of the organization. Once, the rules are approved then this alliance will start taking applications for new membership from other independent online media platforms across Pakistan. DigiMAP Interim cabinet will virtually meet after the Eid holidays to expedite the rules formulation process.
